Botswana, Zambia
& Zimbabwe
Why choose Botswana?
Botswana - for the ultimate safari combination of big game, stunning scenery, luxury and privacy. Africa at its best.

Because of the convenience of travel, it is ideal for a short break, but to see the country in any depth requires around two weeks. It can easily be combined with the Cape or Mauritius.
Botswana is ideal for a very comfortable and relaxing, yet adventurous safari, with the minimum travel time between locations. You can expect to see a large number and good variety of wildlife in really remote and beautiful scenery. It can be enjoyed at any time of year but you have to take care to visit the right places during the right months.
 Botswana safari
In Botswana we use small luxury safari camps on huge private wildlife reserves. So you will not usually see other vehicles when on safari. At most camps you will have a luxury tented room on a big wooden deck with comfortable bed, furniture, ensuite wc/shower and a verandah with views. Most camps in Botswana only have 8 rooms and a pool and the food is marvelous.
Okavango Delta
The waterways create a vast oasis of palm islands and grassland. Thousands of elephant, lion, leopard giraffe and herds of plains game live here. Enjoy safaris with expert guides by open vehicle, on foot and by boat and mokoro canoe. The Okavango has so much variety in wildlife and scenery we recommend you stay in two contrasting areas.
Safaris in the Savuti and Linyanti regions
Dry river beds, big savannah plains and forest support amazing concentrations of elephant antelope and prides of lion. From July to November this is one of the best big game safari areas in Africa.
The Desert
Botswana has fascinating deserts which are best from March to May with seasonal animal migrations. Walk with San Bushmen. Explore Makgadigadi by quad bike.
Safari options
A fly in safari takes you quickly from one luxury camp to another. We recommend 2-3 days per safari camp to really enjoy each place. Or you can take a luxury mobile safari traveling around by vehicle with a support team setting up camp for you each night.
Botswana is a complex part of Africa with various safari seasons and migrations. Why choose Zambia?
Zambia is one of the best countries for an active safari. Zambia has a great deal to offer; fantastic walking country with an armed ranger, the Zambezi by canoe and day and night drives by open Land Rover.
You could easily spend over ten days exploring Zambia, or enjoy just a few days and combine it with Botswana or South Africa.
For an adventurous, yet comfortable safari Zambia is the obvious choice. In Zambia you can enjoy walking through the bush with an armed guide, open vehicle safaris both during the day and at night, and boating and canoeing on the Zambezi.
Zambia is perfect for a "last family vacation" with older teenagers. Zambia gives you a chance to be active, walks are not strenuous but might cover 5 or 6 miles. Home to some of Africa's best guides, Zambia has some excellent privately owned small safari camps and lodges, some taking just six guests giving the opportunity for some wonderful safaris in privacy.
Safari options
Setting off just after 6 am to track animals and learn the fundamentals of bushcraft, you follow the course of the meandering Luangwa River returning to camp for a hearty breakfast. In the afternoon you can move further afield by open vehicle following big herds of buffalo, zebra and antelope; while after dinner a night drive may show you a leopard on the prowl or aardvark and porcupine.
National Parks
Flanking the Zambezi River is the Lower Zambezi National Park here you can explore the fertile Zambezi flood plains alongside elephant, crocodile and hippos. A little further west is Kafue National Park which offers a great diversity of mammal species - Kafue boasts eighteen different types of antelope and six types of cat in one national park. Nearby are the Busanga Plains; home to millions of smaller antelope and tree climbing lions.

The Falls
A safari in Zambia combines well with a trip to Victoria Falls to admire the mile wide waterfall and enjoy rafting, micro lighting, bungee jumping or a sundowner cruise. An abundance of beautiful larger and smaller lodges and hotels have sprung up along the Zambezi River in response to the political situation across the border in Zimbabwe, making Zambia’s side of the Falls more popular.
Strongly seasonal, Zambia should be visited between May and the end of October to avoid the rainy seasons when most camps and lodges close.
Botswana, Zambia & Zimbabwe
Why Choose Zimbabwe?
In our view this remains one of the finest countries in Africa for an exciting yet comfortable safari vacation.
Zimbabwe has been a wonderful choice for an adventurous and comfortable safari for many years. It's combination of abundant wildlife, fantastic scenery, amazing guides and luxurious lodges is the key to a fantastic safari.
Some people are less confident in a visit to Zimbabwe because of the political situation. However, Zimbabwe is a safe place to visit and by doing so you are providing employment in the rural areas and supporting safari lodges which are protecting game in the national parks from poaching.
Zimbabwe boasts one of Africa's best guide training programs and some amazing safaris on foot are there to be enjoyed.  In Zimbabwe you might like to travel by canoe and float past hippos and of course enjoy game drives with excellent wildlife guides to show you around.
National Parks
The great open plains of Hwange are home to over 20,000 elephant and enormous numbers of plains game. The hills and valleys of the Matusadona National Park by Lake Kariba support rhinoceros, lion and antelope, and the World Heritage Site of Mana Pools just near the half mile wide Zambezi River is another strikingly beautiful region.
Owner Run Lodges
Zimbabwe has many excellent safari camps and lodges, often owner run and each set in fantastic locations, usually a fair distance from commercial farming areas and towns. Zimbabwe's safari lodges and camps provide invaluable employment for people from local villages and, in many cases, the local people have taken over the anti-poaching and wildlife management.
Zimbabwe is at its best between March and November.
